Chris Nolan has given us a realistic/gritty take on the Batman universe while staying true to certain comic storyline continuity, I really enjoyed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I thought that the Nolan Brothers and David Goyer fleshed out a great script, the action was kick ass, the villains were dark as is the storyline. After the success of Dark Knight it was no surprise when Chris Nolan finally signed on for a third and final go at the directing chair on Dark Knight Rises. After months and months of crazy casting rumors and heated discussions all over the web on who the villains would be in the new film, Warner Brothers Picture finally lets out a tit bit to keep the fan boys and girls at bay. Here’s the full press release below:
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. “The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
(if you haven’t seen Tom Hardy in “Bronson” I urge you to take a look at that film. his performance is astounding. I can really see him as Bane after seeing “Bronson”). Not sure about Hathaway as Catwoman but Nolan has done a great job on the characters so far, beside the weird casting on both the female love interests. Holmes was just a little off compared to the rest of the stellar cast and her replacement Maggie Gyllenhaal seems to be the least “good looking” she’s ever been in any movie even though her acting was great in her small role. I’m sure Nolan will give us a superb finally to his Dark Knight Trilogy, I know I’ll be in the theater seats come July 20th 2012 to see Dark Knight Rising, the spectacle that will try and top 2008’s The Dark Knight. I’m very interested on how they plan do that. Very interested.
Till Next Time. Stay Tuned.
